When Barack Obama was elected the unemployment rate was 6.8 %

Today it's 8.5 %

(if the same number of people were looking for work today as in 2007, OBAMA's actual unemployment rate would be 11%)

God bless the Chilean miners who held it together while waiting. Some people come apart when they're stuck in traffic for an hour never mind being stuck at the center of the earth for two months. Kudos to the president of Chile and the rescuers who teamed up with NASA and a Pennsylvania drill bit maker to bring the miners back. The Chilean President didn't yap about whos "ass he was gonna kick"-he just got his own ass to where the crisis was and handled it. LEADERSHIP doesn't need a teleprompter.

That's been Obama's problem since day one. He says one thing, writes something else in his books, voted another way, then shows up at Martha's Vinyard in time to walk back a statement he made about something he said he wrote.
Ever since Barack was a young whatever whenever "back in the day" -
the American people have no dates, no times, no passport, no college transcripts, no yearbooks and the only written record of Barack Hussain Obama are two books he wrote and a bunch of speeches his speechwriter's wrote. These speeches by the way sound a lot like the speeches that were written for his friend Deval Patrick (Gov of Mass.) You read them and decide;
Just because the same people wrote them and they might sound the same-
anyway ever since back in the day show me 3 facts in a row that line up about Barack Obama. And now we're expected to believe this man is forthcoming about who he is religiously ?

Let's go purely on President Obama's actions on the "Muslim" thing and see why 18% of the American people believe he is a Muslim. Could it be because his father was a Muslim from Kenya and his mom from Kansas did not practice a religion? Could it be his knowledge of the Quora'n and his ability to recite phrases from it ? Or is it the fact he said "IF YOU TOOK THE NUMBER OF MUSLIM AMERICANS, AMERICA WOULD BE ONE OF THE LARGEST MUSLIM NATIONS IN THE WORLD.

52% of Americans say churches should stay away form politics.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ? Considering the garbage that is dumped on Christians worldwide and in America on a regular basis for wanting to do things like manger displays ,saying Christmas, posting the Ten Commandments and the more radical Christians who think that killing a baby is killing a baby, Do you think the radical version of a religion like Islam being linked to the leader of the free world might be a problem ? I do.
Besides the fact that our armed forces are fighting terrorist cells comprised of Radical Muslims , the lack of clarity on this issue with President Barack Hussain Obama is not good for our country. The Pew report goes onto say that Muslims in the United Stated comprise only .1 % of our population. But mosque construction is at an all time high in America.
Our President should stop Apologizing for America. And start asking questions of a religion that tortures women ,blows up schools/ malls and cuts off people's heads....as part of a strategy. THAT is Radical Muslim.

Yesterday during a discussion on Facebook about the mosque at ground zero, a guy named ***** took the same fall back position about radical Islam that we've been hearing since before 9-11. And that position is that all religions kill and have killed for years..and that all gods are the same.

I pointed out that globally that's not the case- it's just the radical Islam kinds that behave that way. Cutting off real human heads- all the time , strapping the bombs to children, blowing up as many innocents as they possibly can everyday- And here in the USA...well it's the radical Islam kind....where that same religion disguises itself as one thing to shoot up an American military base.
But when it comes to "The media's Religion of Peace", it's tough to get a fact in edgewise. Maybe AMERICANS are afraid to discuss this simply because not all of us own or can afford a bomb-sniffing dog. Let's face it, Talk trash about Jesus, the son of my God and most people just blow it off. Talk trash about The Qura'n and some people might BLOW YOU UP. Even agnostics are careful not to offend ALLAH.

The next time someone supports Sharia Law and claims it carries the weight of our U.S. Constituion, explain to them that THIS IS AMERICA. But offer them a chance to live under Sharia Law for a couple months.

I found nothing in the Torah or the Bible about those Gods killing all who cover the earth that don't convert or become slaves. But in the Qura'n there are specific instructions.

Whoever controls the narrative wins. It's that simple. Barack Obama controlled the media narrative for the better part of two years and for that he is president. That narrative was based on two books that he himself wrote and no one really questioned until now.
Now that million of Americans are having doubts with not only the current administration's policies but the president's agenda and credibility on key issues, the administration must change the narrative. The narrative or storyline is what many Americans will believe about a variety of people ,topics or issues- without researching or confirming facts or conflicting evidence.

For example one of the challenges now facing TeamObama is to portray the Tea Party protesters as violent and racist. Why ?

Because the Tea Party message is resonating with far too many Americans and this is a concern for the administration as it slides further to the left .

If Obama can position the Tea Partiers as crazy angry nuts, then the NEW NARRATIVE of the Tea Parties of smaller government, less taxes and state's rights would gain even more popularity.

One of the best parts about the staged Healthcare summit that only geeks like me watched- was President Obama calling people by their first name.
They have to call him Mr. President yet he called them Dave, John, Mary whatever.
Early in his senate career then Senator Obama said " I'm not interested in being bitch-slapped by John McCain."
People go out of their way to be respectful to Mr. Obama for a variety of reasons, among them his intellect and his superstardom. It's obvious that President Obama is used to being treated this way and expects it. He appears to be a guy who likes to call people out IN PUBLIC...and so does his staff.
In an effort to look like the big man on campus or more likable President Oba....I mean Barry...looked silly ...he looked like a young man trying to scold
the gown-ups now that he's principle for a day( 34 months remaining til schools out)

Another thing that was interesting about the party of " EQUAL TIME' was the Dems got TWICE the time to flap their mouth as the Repubs.

The Harvard educated Professor just killed 3 more people- not by accident- at the University of Alabama Huntsville.

How did this woman complete her education, teach at Harvard and end up in tenure discussions at U of Alabama ?

Who do former President Jimmy Carter's recent comments on race and Barack Obama embarrass the most; Himself, America, or Barack Obama? Its a tough call. President Jimmy Carter- probably one of the most disappointing one term presidents of all time (see his record) is a self proclaimed expert on race-relations. He was raised in the south and a former governor of Georgia. So I can't help but wonder why he would make such remarks unless it was to provide cover for Barack Obama, a president who's policies are so close to his own it's uncanny. One of the few differences I see between Carter and Obama is, Carter's pastor, friends and czars weren't trashing the United States on a scale never before seen.

I realize there are people who get their news from John Stewart and actually believe they're not only smarter but hipper because of it. Some of those same people think that Tina Fey's Sarah Palin was by far the greatest SNL sketch ever. Are these some of the same people that hate Sarah Palin? If it's not hate is it fear ? What could cause such fear and concern across our great nation regarding this woman?

Is it that She's a wife, a successful working mother of 5, a grandmother that loves God ?

Could it be that she's a hunter, an outdoorsman , a snow machine enthusiast and a soon to be former governor of Alaska?

It's hard to find people to discuss Barack Obama rationally. People either are off the charts with hate or off the charts with a Jesus- like worship. I did not vote for Barack Obama. President Obama is a very effective communicator, knows how to wear a suit,and appears to be a solid family guy. He's changed politics and campaign marketing as we know it. I've read his two books-most Americans have not(see sales numbers). I've reviewed his voting record from Illinois and DC and read almost all of his speeches. His campaign was as close to flawlessly executed as one can get- just ask the McCain campaign. Obama is a fundraising machine: $785 million plus and counting....

That doesn't change the fact that I hate communism, socialism and everything these "isms" stand for and have done to the world. I believe government is too big. Government should not be the biggest employer- then the employees can just VOTE for the boss so they can keep their benefits.

We need term limits. 12 years for the Senate, 6 years for Congress. I also believe that when government sticks it's nose into the free market, it gunks it up, and then politicians give us sound- bites like " if we don't act now, everything will implode",and " we need more regulation." It never occurs to anyone to check who was regulating what and when.

I think President Obama was wrong when he decided for the first time, against holding a public ceremony for the National Day of Prayer.

Why do we need a Hate Crimes Bill?
I HATE CRIME. I especially hate violent crime of any kind toward any person.

I believe political correctness is strangling our political process, and what remains of dialogue. Too many people are checking the wind, the opinions of others and their checkbook before they speak honestly on anything. It's tragic. It makes many of our elected officials appear like empty puppets .

It's possible to be passionate without being rude. You can be engaged without being offensive. If one's actions and record are clear, there should be no doubt as to where they stand; Sadly that's easier said than done in politics.

I think too few people read history. Too few people care about anyone's else's history let alone their own or their country's.

Last night I turned on CNN to see Larry King talking to Michael Jackson's lawyer. Underneath the picture: COUNTDOWN TO JACKSON MEMORIAL... and there were the hours and minutes ticking away- as we wait as a nation?-. I'm waiting til it's over. The quicker the better. Michael Jackson: great musician, dancer and creative guy- most certainly. Worthy of 24/7 WORSHIP? I dont think so. For the record, I didn't have to run out and buy/download Jackson's albums, I already owned them including a lot of the stuff he did before he went solo. I know the impact Jackson had on radio, the music industry and my prom(1979). But the American media has spoken about Michael. Period.
Just as they have spoken about Sarah Palin, Obama, Elvis, Clinton, Britney etc. When the media says jump MOST Americans say how high. Too bad for our country.

In a speech given on May 22, 1964, Johnson promised that his Great Society would “pursue the happiness of our people,” conquer “boredom and restlessness,” and satisfy the “desire for beauty” and the “hunger for community.” All this and beat the Viet Cong too. Amazing!
Reason No. 4: Socialism is a secular substitute for religion and offers people (false) solace against the traumas of this life.
I considered giving intellectuals their own special reason for worshipping the state, but I decided that to explain why 95 percent of intellectuals have a ferocious love for socialism you merely have to combine and intensify all four reasons already stated.
These are some of the main reasons that socialism, which is silly in theory and lethal in practice, remains so popular, even in a society such as ours, whose fabulous wealth is the result of the shrinking capitalist remnants of the economy.

Investigative Reporting vs. PR

I miss investigative reporting. The kind where you come away with the Truth. Remember that ? Did it ever actually happen? Or did we always have to sift through piles of slanted spun and rinsed pap to find out what we needed to know and then confirm it for ourselves ?

Now...with a few exceptions..it's mostly PR(puppet reporting;we say this: you say this. we say that you say that)

Puppet reporting usually has one of two goals: ratings or revenue. The problem is, the puppets rarely achieve either for long. (because they're puppets)

When was the last time you read, listened to or watched a "news" story and thought..

"wow! these people went to the ends of the earth and turned over every stone to get THIS story..and it's a darn good thing or the world may have never known"

Eventually reporters, good ones, have to take risks, puppets don't(they're puppets).
Eventually real reporters will upset some people with the Facts, puppets rarely upset people(they're puppets)
Investigative reporters don't wait for facts to fall in their lap , they go out and Find them....it's called investigating. Puppets don't do that,(they're puppets and they need to be fed-wait that's a chia pet)

I've always thought Kevin Bacon was one of the greatest actors of our generation. The HBO film
TAKING CHANCE officially confirms his acting greatness. The fact that he took on this project says a lot about him as a person.

TAKING CHANCE is a wonderful reminder of the greatness of our country but more importantly the patriotism of Americans. It is beautifully filmed, eloquently written and brilliantly acted.

It is a true story. Make sure you watch the extra features on the DVD. Although this movie does not fit into many in the media's
narrative of who and what America is- I'd love to see it shown in High Schools...at least as often as Al Gore or Michael Moore's films are viewed.

Talking on cell phones in Cars

I've never had an issue with people who talk on their phone while driving. My issue is with people that talk on their phone while driving like an idiot. Some people are capable of talking on a cell phone and maintaining control of their vehicle and the steering wheel and being aware of the surrounding enviroment.

Some people are oblivious to all things great and small no matter what they are doing. For example...I cannot drive my car and eat lunch...especially if it requires a knife and fork... Or a big sloppy dripping Sandwich item with stuff hanging all over. Think about it. How could I? without...constantly taking my eyes off the road and rearranging my grip on the steering wheel...not to mention greasing up all the controls in my car which really grosses me out. I do eat in my car...it's usually a Power Bar.....with a plastic bottled water. Easy to drop in an Emergency and nothing will break in my face...when the guy who isn't paying attention runs the stop sign a slams whatever is in my hand into my nose. Glass is not good.

I bring the topic up this morning because of the woman in front of me on 309 South yapping on her cell phone, swerving over the line, and going 31 in a 45. My first thought. TALK OR DRIVE. PICK ONE. I'm sure if you concentrate, you could do one thing well. All of us have things we do well. I know guys that drive 10 ton Fire Engines and they can give clear calm orders on the radio without swerving over the line or crashing into anything...BUT..I would not give them a Manwich at that point. So I don't want this woman to feel bad about this morning...BUT SHE IS A TERRIBLE DRIVER WHEN SHE'S ON HER PHONE. However there are people that can drive safely while talking.

Does her driving improve while she puts on make-up? Drinks a hot coffee/eat a bagel, or fiddle with her i-pod? I don't know, I didn't have time to follow her.

Yesterday I spent most of the day watching coverage of President Obama's Inauguration...and like his campaign, it was impressive to watch. There were moments when the glory of this great nation shined so brightly and I, like many Americans, could barely contain my emotions...for a variety of reasons. Yesterday the WORLD watched as America peacefully passed power to a new administration after what many are calling a "graceful" & flawless transition from the previous one. Our new President(word is he's BLACK ) was put into power without force, bloodshed, polling place death threats or a military coup. He was Elected to the highest office in the land in the greatest nation on earth. Certainly the most diverse nation politically and religiously and as our president said "where else but in America" could his story even have taken place. Close to 2 million people cheered on this moment in person.

Many of us have seen the footage of Reverend Lowery's historical journey and others like him and their contributions to yesterday's historical moment. Their sacrifices and suffering can only be imagined by most of us today but certainly are respected by me.

But what I didn't see in yesterday's crowds ...anywhere for that matter..were slave owners ,
attack dogs , fire hoses, racial signs, segregated seating.

What I did see was a Black man elected president with 66 million votes in a country that is 14 % black. The day before I witnessed incredible memorials and commentary on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.....his birthday , a federal holiday signed into law by Ronald Reagan.

What I did see was an entire nation setting an example for the entire world on how to get along in the face of "all kinds of stuff."

There are many high profile Black role models ....one certainly didn't have to wait until a Black man was sworn in as the leader of the free world.

But as an AMERICAN... I was disappointed by Reverend Lowery's closing remarks to his benediction at the inauguration of our 44th President.

here they are:

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around...when yellow will be mellow...when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.

Perhaps Reverend Lowery forgot where he was or that it was January 20 2009.

Maybe the line he was looking for was Lord give us all the strength to continue to work together as one nation under God black, brown yellow & white, to embrace what is right.

And if it was the ryhme and rhythm thing he was going for...he still could of done that without being self righteous.

US Airways Pilot = Hudson River Hero for a lot of reasons

As I watched the news coverage of the US Airways crash on the Hudson River.a few things ran threw my mind..I was relieved : That it was not my family or me in the friggid waters in that plane between NYC & NJ, that the aircraft did not break into several jagged pieces upon impact and that the passengers were all safe and for the most part, calm about it.

Some say it was a miracle. The miracle was that THIS veteran captain was still around to save this plane and these people. THAT was the miracle. That Somehow Captain "Sully" Sullenberger III survived layoffs, mergers and cuts so the people on that flight could benefit from a guy with 30 years experience that calmly "landed" the plane "on top" of the water while the proverbial crap was hitting the fan....then he's the last one off before exiting the aircraft.

The plane looked almost serene floating there in the final moments before it was towed away by NYC tugs. Holy crud. Water has the density of concrete. We've all seen videos of planes disinegrating during water crashes and "Sully" manages to avoid a flaming inner city crash, then realizes he doesn't have the altitude for another smaller airport so he GLIDES it ONTO a RIVER....AND ...never raises his voice...or panics. CAPTAIN SULLY ROCKS !

Jim Carrey's new movie Yes Man is good...But..

I mean it's Big Laugh funny, It's clever, It's got a few life lessons, memorable characters -it's even warm.

All the more reason I was so shocked by the Oral Sex scene with the Jim Carrey's senior citizen neighbor. Totally unnecessary. In fact..the scene starts out cute, then moves to raunch and then is revisited later in the movie by another character. The movie really flows until this frat-house pig moment.

and it's a shame...because it's been a while since we've seen Carrey's true comic genius on display. He really is brilliant, daring and clever....so why the gutter detour in the middle of such a fun film ?

Adam Sandler's latest is worth the ticket price

My wife and I took our 4 & 7 year old sons to see Bedtime Stories over the weekend. It's a fun 90 minute film that a 7 year old can handle...my 4 year old was more excited about the candy choices. Bedtime Stories is not as good as CLICK(one of my Sandler favorites) but it had a warm storyline and some cool effects and was packed with kid-like fantasy,what you'd expect from a bedtime story. It was a bit predictable but there was some clever spin thrown in to make it fun. And it didn't hurt that Sandler's sister was played by Courtney Cox. I also appreciated Sandler's poking fun at her "granola-over-the top-save the planet" life style. Russell Brand plays Sandler's best friend, Keri Russell is also a plus and Guy Pearce does an awesome job as "the bad guy".

It's rated PG-13 but I don't think the kids will pick up anything they haven't already learned on the school bus

WHERE ARE THE SMENCILS ?

Today was school store day.. at least that's what my wife told my oldest son and me. So we got up early and I drove my 7 year-old to school. He has been saving his allowance to make some hefty school store purchases. Like some Smencils-those PENCILS that smell like..well...you can decide what they smell like. he says they're all the rage. In fact...is former girl-friend(they're still friends-but no longer an item) gave him a smencil but like his dad, he has to buy several of everything(no reason). You never know when you might need an extra smencil...or if the aroma runs low during a test or something. So we arrived early ...because...he also wanted some retro erasers and some funky folder that WAS ONLY A DOLLAR-can you even imagine ! ? Holy savings ! Bat Boy ! So there we were...my son and a bunch of kids dropped off in the cafeteria.....and me. I'm thinking...wow they're really cuttin' it close..I mean they don't even have the tables set up with all the cool school supply items and smencils and the store opens in 11 seconds. And where are the PTA parents that sell all that cool stuff anyway? So about 10 more minutes go by. my son is really excited. He's taken out his money and refolded it several times. He also has a pocket full of quarters to avoid change making delays. There's only one other parent there with her son in the cafeteria full of kids waiting for something....so I ask her, when do they open the school store for the first graders ? "NEXT THURSDAY AT 8:30" she says. "These kids are waiting to start class"

Well it's a good thing Mr GOOBER and his son were there a week early to get in line for the smencils.

I called Mrs. GOOBER on the way home to re-confirm the wrong date.

By now you've probably seen the Sarah Palin Turkey interview...some in the media have already dubbed it Turkeygate.Who is responsible for that uncomfortable background shot of turkeys being killed during the wrap up segment ? Start with the camera person. Why didn't the CAMERA PERSON just pan left a couple inches ? They could of framed Palin in the shot and captured the rest of the interview without the blood and guts . In the entire interview you'll notice that the camera person is able and willing to shoot at a variety of angles and shots, zooming and panning about...but for some reason when the camera person gets SARAH PALIN PERFECTLY FRAMED IN A SHOT SO THE VIEWER CAN SEE TURKEYS BEING SLAUGHTERED, THE CAMERA NEVER MOVES AN INCH. WHY NOT? IT'S SUCH AN EASY FIX. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92I6-M2vAbQ

Notice that the Governor is not looking directly at the camera..she is looking toward the interviewer..presuming her background is DIRECTLY BEHIND HER.....WHICH WOULD NOT BE THE TURKEY MACHINE. I realize that some people get their info from the Daily Show, SNL and the internet....but I couldn't help but notice the MSNBC headlines that are written under this woman as she gives a perfectly intelligent respectful & pleasant interview-OTHER THAN THE WORK OF THE CAMERA PERSON- which she is unaware of. How many times have you gone on vacation...someone has taken a picture/video of you..and when you see it..you say "why did you put THAT in the shot? ..I wanted the palm tree or the hotel on THAT side of me?"

Do you actually think she saw camera playback while she was there? When a camera is on you , you can not tell WHAT THE CAMERA SEES. ....until it's revealed..

The best part of this entire incident...is how the Media spread it and the PUBLIC is feeding on it....no pun intended.

HAS ANYONE QUESTIONED THE CAMERA PERSON, HAS ANYONE QUESTIONED THE REPORTER ?
This was a slam job...and Sarah,
who travels without telepromptors & media handlers & stage setters- fell for it again...because she probably trusted the interviewer and the camera-person...thinking...how harmful can this be?

She even said as much on camera......

My advice to all viewers. WATCH THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW...if you can find all of it and not just the slaughter segment. LISTEN TO THE CONTENT. READ THE LABELS MSNBC & others HAVE WRITTEN UNDER THE GOVERNOR OF ALASKA......Then ask yourself....if the local yocal camera person from your town pulled that stunt on you would you buy the story.

JUST BECAUSE THE MEDIA SERVES IT UP DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO EAT IT.

Let's pretend for this morning, I'm advising Ford,GM & Chrysler..on several issues;

My advice(by the way my website is http://www.kenmatthewsworks.com/ ..and I can drive myself or fly coach)would be to ...Drive your best BIG HYBRID vehicles to DC make sure the press is following you( you know like you were Obama for a day), ...a USA motorcade of sorts...getting better mileage than some current foreign hybrids....because...Detroit has made a handful of good products over the years...but they just can't market 1/2 of them...although they spend ONE BILLION a year in ADVERTISING !!!!

anyway..make sure you bring your accountants...and keep track of the mileage so the first thing out of your mouth is the GREAT MILEAGE YOU GOT WHILE DRIVING FROM DETROIT TO DC....-then go onto to say

"oh and by the way our accountants packed everything you need Madam chairperson to see what is going where and why"...explaining clearly...if there is anything else you or the Senators need we've got another Yukon Hybrid full of documents for you..and thanks for taking the time to see us and entertain Socialism again.

Then the Union Leaders should apolgize for all the strikes...because even the strike money is looking good now...isn't it?

Drop the talk of ripple effects, and the domino effects on the economy...if you really cared about that, you would of been weeding out the duds from your product lines 15 years ago and focussing on what the consumer wanted and not what the unions and the CEO's wanted.

Then the BIG THREE management team should apologize for bad management.

....another reason I enjoy being a subsitute teacher....Every time I'm in a class as a speaker or a teacher I always walk away having learned something. So today when my eyes caught these cool teen book titles(one is a Teen Top 10 Award Winner) I was not only laughing but I told the student readers of these books that I was going to put the titles on my blog...because they're too entertaining not to. Of course now....being a read-aholic...I'm obligated to actually read these books in addition to the 4 I'm currently reading(with less entertaining titles..probably not as geared toward teens)....

and yes it's occurred to me that these are probably chick books...but hey! good lit is good lit.

CHILD SAFE ROAD RAGE....

I was never much of a road-rager....but I had a mouth on me. A big fat Pottie mouth..especially in the car-or when I got wound up but..never OUT THE WINDOW....'cause who wants to get shot? But as anyone with kids..or who works around kids knows....you gotta zip it! I actually enjoyed cussing...especially around my peeps that had pottie mouths..it was a release of sorts but that's for another day. BUT NEVER ON THE AIR or in front of the yoots(children). So now my vocabulary has become shockingly clean-..so clean that I even shock myself if a "bad" word slips out even in front of an adult. Anyway, I'm proud of the fact that my 4 & 7 year old boys haven't learned one flippin cuss word from Daddy-o.......although I bust Mommy because...she's forgotten the kids and I have gotten home early and we overhear her giving the dirty dishes verbal WRATH...because I was supposed to have cleaned them.

Yesterday I'm pulling into the promenade shops and the guy in front of me comes to a complete stop for no reason right at the first intersection by Melt..THEN...he doesn't stop at the STOP SIGN....

"CLOWN !" I shout.

My 4 year old says "where daddy?!"

"It's just a figure of speech son, the guy in front of us is driving like a clown !" I say.

My 7 year old says " How can he be driving like a clown, his car is way too big, you mean like a circus clown..around in circles?"

"No" I say " he shouldn't be driving at all because he can't read the signs and he'd be better off at the circus..so I called him a clown"

"it's not nice to call people names" says my oldest.....

"I know" I respond "Daddy shouldn't have done that."

"When can we see the clown daddy?" asks my 4-year old.

"It's not a real clown" says the 7 year old..laughing.

"When we go to the circus" I say

"Can we go to the circus tonite daddy?" he asks

I should of just called the guy a poopie-head....everybody's clear on that one

I was reviewing my collection of Barack Obama photos and I can't help but notice how many photographers shoot Obama with a LIGHT SOURCE directly behind his head, his hand , at the tip of his finger, or glowing around his silhouette .....Is this an ET thing, a Jesus thing or a whole new trend in lighting for WORLD LEADERS ? He's never squinting. Why bring a flash if HE'S THE SOURCE OF THE LIGHT?

In Search Of...Zeke Zelker's latest

Last night my wife and I went to see Zeke Zelker's latest movie IN SEARCH OF.....
It's beyond bold and clever...it's good . Although it's not rated..I give it a strong R rating. It's is about how people use sex and each other for a variety of reasons and outcomes. It's both scarey and poignant. Well acted and frighteningly real. Ironically if you were expecting real sexy or funny....well.....It's as far away from American Pie as you can possibly get. Althought there is actually no graphic sex, the consequences of the characters' sexual choices are graphically portrayed. That makes the movie what it is.
Zeke could of easily used sex for sex sake...but he didn't go down that road, instead...sex or the taboo of it and at times the awkwardness of it becomes a catalyst for strong dialogue and keeps you thinking more than viewing. Combine this with the fact that it was filmed on location in Allentown.....It's a must see IF YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH. The message....sex is not something to be taken lightly. Yes the movie is heavy and there is nudity...and if you're a prude, you better skip it...or maybe not.

For the past couple OF YEARS...I've been lucky enough to experience the joy(s) of launching my own business and being at home when I was never home before...so when my wife is working, I get to put my oldest on the bus and many afternoons greet him when he returns home. Last week was one of many special moments when he sprinted off the bus, ran inside, dropped his 87 pound backpack(he's only in first grade-that's why it's so light), and exclaimed "Dad, you're not gonna believe what happened today at lunch!"....I'm thinking...scandal.....rumor...fight....free cake & ice cream...
"what?" I exclaimed back-even more excited. "I was invited to sit at the peanut -free table...invited- and you have to be invited..you can't just walk over there with your food!"....he said. "HOLY SCHMOLEY" I said..."that's amazing..."how did it happen?"
"well" he continued, "first ******* asked me over then *******, she's a teacher and lunchroom lady, searched me and my lunch for peanuts ...then I took my lunch over and ate with the peanut free kids- IT WAS SO COOL....and I'm gonna do it again !"
"Dood" I said" You are so cool". "What happens if ****** or the other kids have peanuts?" I asked.
"they get really sick" he said so we have to be extra careful with our food around them"

yes times have changed...and in many cases it's for the better.

I love a crisp Fall breeze- it's like a righteous wind blowing up my pant leg.....and the leaves......gently parachuting onto my driveway...it sorta gives me hope...hope that my neighbor will change the direction of his...leaf blower. Like a lot of people Fall is my favorite time of year..and it's not just because of politics. My kids love it too...and so do fashion designers....my wife enjoys the snuggling and the extra layer of clothing & shoes my boys and I leave on the floor and in the hamper. I like the way the house and neighborhood smells when someone is burning their fireplace.

And let's not forget Halloween.....my youngest son(now 4) called it WEEN until he was 2....then it got on our nerves so we decided to correct him. That's the little guy's favorite "holiday". Last week we were at the LVM Halloween store...upper level..looking for a costume for my oldest(7)..my youngest already has his MR. INCREDIBLE suit...anyway we're makin' our way through the isles...ghost-check, goblins-check,rubber presidents masks-check, polymer tombstones-check, crazy hair wigs & claws-check....
BAM ! LIFELIKE BURNT HUMAN SEVERED LIMBS ON AN OUTDOOR BBQ GRILL.....easy cowboy...what did I miss ?...next to a lifelike bleeding rat in a cage....woops....NO CHECK..THERE....ok I have a 4 & 7 year old...they are not combat vets or EMTs so this was a bit new to the kids...and unlike a lot of Americans(not me) they had not seen SAW I,II,III,VI,or V.
I quickly steered them out of that area back to the ghostly halloweenie goblin skeletenesk kind of stuff..and away from the ADULT SECTION.....

I got home and told my wife about it suggesting that maybe there should be "big Goblin" and "little Goblin" section...you know what I mean....so parents don't have to explain why there's a crime scene in the Halloween store....to their kids...

she said..it's a Halloween store....people know what they're getting into. This from a woman who refuses to see the movie STRANGERS...with me ...because she claims it's too horrifying.....
HOW BOUT SOME SAWED OFF FEET ON THE GRILL FOR OUR 4 YEAR OLD....?
anyway...they were' VERY lifelike for those of you who have seen real body parts.......

I'm for a friendly warning.....what do you think ?

ps- I've been busting my wife non-stop about it .....I told her we should get rid of that Disney crap and watch Friday the 13th and Halloween with the little guys.....NIGHTMARES SCHMIGHTMARES.....
